3. What does “The Truman Show” say about the impact of mass media on our society? How does the movie use product placement in a sarcastic way? Is this movie realistic when thinking of current trends in web broadcasting? Would you watch this show? Would you be an actor in the show? What is the irony of a movie about the making of a live television show? Compare this movie to “Bullworth”, “Wag the Dog” or another movie about mass media.
"The Truman Show" shows us how much the media impacts our society in many ways. One way is how people are so fascinated with Truman's life. How everything he does they do, everything he has they want. I think this movie is really realistic in current trends because it's selling everything he does. I probably would watch this show, because I think it's really interesting how they kind of made his life a lie. The movie uses product placement with the veggie slicer and the hot cocoa mix. And he catches on to his wife and how shes trying to sell something. It shows us how many ways our society is impaced by the media.
9. Do you like how the movie ends? What do you make of Truman’s last words: “In case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night”? What happens to Christof? What happens to Truman and Sylvia? What happens to the viewers of the Truman show? What do you think would happen in a sequel?
I didn't like the ending and how he just hits the wall and walks up the stairs. From his last words I took away that was like his good bye. I think that the director saw Truman like his son since he watched him grow up. All the viewers celebrate for him, and then they just go back and see what other shows are on. I think in a sequel Truman and Sylvia would get married!
10. Did you like this movie? Why or why not? Comment on the cinematography, sound, lighting, special effects or any other technical aspects. Comment on the characters or the actors themselves. Comment on the script or the story used in the movie.
I liked this movie alot. It was sad though how nothing in his life was actually real. I really liked how they used the camera to see it from a tube type thing. I found it iteresting how the director was okay with just letting him die infront of the world. I also found it cool how they could change the weather. Even though they used to it try to kill him, it was still cool. I liked Trumans character because he was smart and the victim in all of it.
